General Description
The director/producer is responsible to fulfill assigned duties and tasks, attend designated rehearsals & programs and abide by the terms of contract and policies of the school.
Personal and Professional Qualifications
- Be a born again, consecrated Christian, supporting the purpose and goals of Maranatha Christian Academy.
- Have a rudimentary knowledge and understanding of the philosophy and objectives of the Christian school.
- Possess an ability to interact effectively with parents, peers, and administrative staff.
- Attend church services regularly in an evangelical Christian church of choice
- Agree to and practice the terms of employment.
Professional Responsibilities
- Be familiar with and abide by the policies and procedures of the school.
- Ensure outstanding supervision for all practices and performances
Job Duties and Responsibilities
- Play Selection: Collaborate with school administration to select appropriate plays or musicals for productions, ensuring content is age-appropriate and aligns with educational goals.
- Production Direction or Production: Plan, rehearse, and direct at least two school theater productions annually, managing all aspects including casting, staging, costumes, and technical elements.
- Tryout Management: Organize and manage tryouts, ensuring a fair process that evaluates student potential and encourages participation.
- Classroom Management: Maintain a safe and disciplined theatre environment conducive to creative expression and teamwork.
- Community Engagement: Work with school staff, parents, and community members to coordinate productions, secure resources, and promote the drama program.
- Volunteer Management: Recruit, train, and manage parent and community volunteers to support production tasks such as costumes, set construction, and event coordination.
- Technical Oversight: Supervise or teach basic stage production elements, such as lighting, sound, set design, and prop management, ensuring safety and functionality.
- Extracurricular Leadership: Lead drama club or after-school theater activities, encouraging student participation and skill development.
- Budget Management: Manage allocated budgets for productions, costumes, and materials, ensuring cost-effective use of resources.
- Professional Development: Stay updated on theater education trends and techniques through workshops, conferences, or professional organizations.
Ideal Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or higher in THEATER or a related field
- ACSI Certification
- Minimum of 2 years experience
- Knowledge of child development and age-appropriate activities.
- Proficiency in integrating technology into lessons.

- Ability to run, climb stairs, and respond swiftly during emergencies
- Move quickly in various situations
- Agility and flexibility for navigating school premises
- Ability to stand, stoop, crawl, bend, or kneel
- Visual and auditory acuity to support student management
